Consultants

Use of Consultants on Sponsored Research Awards

Funded sponsored project awards periodically make use of consultants to perform specific project tasks. Consultants are defined at Dartmouth College as independent contractors who specifically provide professional advice, and are not considered employees of the College. They usually have a separate skill or expertise not available within the College. The need for their services does not commonly extend beyond a limited period of time in which to complete a specifically defined project. A consultant may or may not carry out these tasks at the site of the project, and payment may be made at stated intervals based on an agreed upon rate.

Contact the Procurement Department to find out how to pay consultants.
