HPP Staff

The Health Professions Program team includes our permanent staff members and professionals who serve as important adjunct consultants to the staff and students. Appointments and walk-in hours are available, and you may also contact HPP via email or phone (603-646-3377).


Sarah BergerSarah Berger is HPP's Senior Pre-Health Advisor. Sarah is available during weekly drop-in hours and by appointment. She addresses a range of topics from course planning, academic advising, extra-curriculars, and personal development, and guides students/alumni through the actual application process to medical school and health professions graduate programs. Alicia Kehn PhotoAlicia Kehn, Senior Pre-Health Advisor, is available to meet with students during drop-in hours and by appointment. She can speak with you about course planning, academic advising, extracurriculars, personal development, and the actual application process to medical school and health professions graduate programs. Rae Stokes PhotoRae Stokes is HPP's Program Coordinator. She is typically the initial contact point for students and alumni who wish to meet an advisor. Rae maintains the advisors' calendars both for individual appointments and drop-in sessions. She works closely with applicants, staff and faculty to complete the Composite Letter process. She is also involved in organizing HPP events and workshops, and working with other college offices and groups to develop outreach programs for Pre-Health students. DirectorDr. Michael Zegans is the HPP Faculty Director and has been on the faculty at Geisel Medical School since 1998, where he is a Professor of Surgery and of Microbiology and Immunology. He is currently the section Chief of Ophthalmology at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. He is both an active clinician and engaged in clinical and laboratory investigations of ocular infectious diseases. Contact Dr. Zegans by emailing the HPP Email.

The Health Professions Program was founded by and for many years run by Lee Witters, MD. An endocrinologist and award-winning educator, Dr. Witters remains the faculty advisor for the Nathan Smith Society.
