Notice of Early Closure
To the Dartmouth community,
Following the recommendation of New Hampshire Gov. John Lynch, who has today declared a state of emergency, Dartmouth is releasing all faculty and staff, effective immediately, except those performing services essential to the support of the operation of our residential community. Such services are those needed to maintain core student services, campus safety and security, and also vital patient services.
All 3 p.m. classes are cancelled, as is the Faculty of Arts & Sciences meeting scheduled for 3 p.m. Additionally, all Dartmouth-sponsored events for the rest of the day are cancelled effective immediately. Dartmouth libraries will close at 4 p.m.
The Class of 1953 Commons dining facility will remain open until 8:30 p.m. All other dining facilities are open until 8 p.m.
Additional details for undergraduate students will be forthcoming in an email from Dean of the College Charlotte Johnson. That information will also be published to the Emergency Preparedness website as it becomes available.
Students and faculty members can be assured that the integrity and safety of their work in laboratories and other locations is secure and protected.
Dartmouth anticipates resumption of normal operations tomorrow, however employees and students should monitor the following resources for updates:
We encourage members of our community to remain safely indoors as the storm passes through our area. As always, call 911, for police, fire, and emergencies requiring an ambulance. To reach Dartmouth Safety and Security, call 603-646-3333.

Community Notice: Hurricane Sandy
To the Dartmouth community,
Dartmouth's emergency planning group--in consultation with town, state, and federal officials--is closely monitoring the path of Hurricane Sandy and its potential impact on our campus. Current weather models predict that the worst of the storm will not hit us directly. It is expected that our region will experience high winds and heavy rain beginning late tomorrow afternoon and continuing through Tuesday morning.
At this time, Dartmouth plans to conduct all regular operations--including classes, events, and activities--as usual on Monday.
As the exact path of the storm is uncertain, the emergency planning group will continue to monitor the latest available information. Additional community updates will be shared as necessary via email and the home page of Dartmouth's website.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
