Enterprise/National benefits extend to the entire Dartmouth community:
Dartmouth is upgrading its rental car primary vendor to Enterprise Holdings (including both Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental), effective January 1, 2012. This new agreement extends the College’s favorable rates and service to all Dartmouth-affiliated customers (employees, alumni, parents, students, and visitors) for both business and personal use. It will also result in a higher level of customer service for all users and substantial total cost savings, with many add-on fees waived.
Excellent rates and Improved Customer Service
Enterprise/National was selected because it offers travelers more locations (7,500+ worldwide), the world’s largest fleet (1.1 million vehicles), an intensive customer service focus, enhanced preferred service to renters through Emerald Club membership, and the best rates available without losing customer benefits. Under this new agreement, Dartmouth is also able to extend its favorable rates and preferred services to alumni, parents, students, visitors, and to faculty and staff for personal use.
Travelers will need to enroll in Enterprise/National’s Emerald Club to ensure discounted rates, enhanced services, and additional benefits every time you rent (see the “call out box” above). When enrolling, bunsiness travelers will need to add the Dartmouth account number: XZ10001 to their profiles. If an enrollment question or problem arises which you cannot solve, call Procurement for help.
Emerald Club membership gives you more control of your rental from reservation to return. Once enrolled, you can:

Beyond the local Hanover area, Enterprise/National will offer the best rate available for your location and dates, without losing any corporate benefits, with the single exception noted directly above. If a local rate is better than the corporate rate, you will receive that best rate. You will not have to rent from an off-airport renter, and you will not be subject to fees which are waived by Enterprise/National, such as underage fees, energy recovery or additional driver fees.
A Customer Procurement Team (CPT), including representatives from high-use departments across the institution, worked to obtain a greater overall value in a rental car vendor for Dartmouth. The CPT actively participated in vendor bids, review, and the negotiation process. Following a comprehensive review, Enterprise/National was selected for its numerous locations, outstanding service for renters, and competitive pricing.
We are grateful to the CPT members for their input, participation, and creative problem-solving. We thank them for helping to select a vendor that will benefit the whole Dartmouth community as well.
Procurement is working with Travel Leaders and Enterprise/National to ensure a smooth transition. You will need to update your travel profile after signing up for Emerald Club.
