Andrew Friedland

Friedland's extensive research on the effect of pollution in forest soils has helped make Dartmouth's Environmental Studies Program one of the best in the country.

MAKING A MARK

His pioneering work on air pollution effects on forest soils has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the USDA Forest Service, and the Environmental Protection Agency. In addition to his legacy of soil pollution research, Friedland's recent studies look at the environmental impact of personal choices.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

"We are an interdisciplinary group of researchers, making important contributions in our respective fields of scholarship," he says of Dartmouth's Environmental Studies Program. "Each of us is strongly committed to undergraduate teaching."
