Plans for implementing RDA in Cataloging and Metadata Services

Plans for implementing RDA in Cataloging and Metadata Services

  1. Any RDA name headings used in these records will be converted to AACR2 headings by LTI during our monthly AEX process.
  2. The absence of the GMD in these records is irrelevant for book materials.
  3. The 33x fields will be retained in the bibliographic record after export, but for the time being will not be displayed in the public catalog. A local solution or a solution from Innovative for expressing the value of these fields in a format intelligible to the public is pending.
  4. RDA records for non-book formats and RDA records which do not use ISBD will be excluded from the catalog for the time being. Cataloging and Metadata Services will be developing a plan for the use of these RDA records for non-book formats as they continue to proliferate in OCLC.
  5. Cataloging and Metadata Services staff will undergo special training in order to make edits on RDA/AACR2 “hybrid” records before they can be exported from OCLC.
