Minutes of the June 21st meeting were approved as submitted.
Announcements
Bill Ghezzi
- Posters are available and distributed to the libraries.
- Cecelia, Jennifer and Bill are working on adjusting the title browse, where subfields are displaying inappropriately.
- Cecilia Tittemore will go thru marc fields to check accurate bibliographic display features for the note fields.
- "Notes" are back - had to create separate note fields, there were lacks notes and issues received areas to be corrected - there are better item record notes now. Patron #s are gone. Any suggestions about item notes not displaying correctly should be sent to Bill Ghezzi.
Jennifer Merrill
2001 software upgrade will be loaded on Monday, July 2. Jennifer will send a note to the Library Group and post a message on the Inno screen. She has plans to track the user interface to see the effects of this software load.
Faculty Orientation
Faculty Orientation script and presenters, student sessions and advanced sessions for library staff.

We had the first faculty orientation on Tuesday, 6/26. Only one faculty member attended.
Reinhart
Public service staff will be given handouts of our script to assist them with questions about the new catalog. Discussion about sending the script via email to CMDC group to help them with their own orientation and training sessions.
We will set up sessions for library student assistants in July. We need to email department heads and ask them to forward the information to Student Supervisors. One person from the WebPac Team will be assigned to each session.
Jennifer and Becca will look at the "faculty" button for requesting items...this affects the Matthews-Fuller Health Sciences Library patrons because they borrow and lend to everyone not just faculty.
Optimal system configuration
Optimal system configuration for using WebPac...which browser etc.
We need to provide the answers to these questions: What are the best settings for browers in using the new library catalog? What are our recommendations?
Does Netscape and Macintosh work okay? We need to put a statement " this is optimized for use with..." on our Web page. We will include a more detailed explanation in the "help" area. Paul will put together a statement about the best preferences to use for optimal use. Do we want to put a link to download the updated brower? -- yes. What about the AOL users?
User Statistics
In the past 2 weeks, there have been 3,000 searches done using the new library catalog. We need to decide now what to collect for statistics, and what do we need as it is being generated. Discussion to be at another meeting.
No meeting on July 5th, next meeting will be on Thursday, July 12 at 11:00am.
