Invalid Combinations

Invalid Double Majors

The majors within a single department/program may not be combined as a double major, and may not be modified with each other, unless the department/program offers dissimilar majors, such as French and Italian, or Physics and Astronomy.

* For students majoring in French and Italian -- a student may double major in a French major and Italian major, but cannot double major in any of the following: French, French Studies, and Romance Studies: French. They also may not double major in any of the following: Italian, Italian studies, and Romance Studies: Italian.
** For students majoring in the Spanish and Portuguese department – a student may double major in Hispanic Studies and Lusophone Studies Modified, but cannot double major in Hispanic Studies and Romance Studies: Spanish. They also may not double major in Lusophone Studies Modified and Romance Studies: Portuguese.

Invalid Major-Minor Combinations

The majors and minors listed below cannot be combined as a Major/Minor. 
  • The majors and minors within a single department may not be combined on a student's record, and may not be modified with each other.
  • Review the policy in the ORC/Catalog concerning secondary components of modified majors.

Invalid Modifiers

The following areas of study cannot be used as modifiers.
  • A modified Type A major cannot be submitted with a secondary component as a minor, unless the secondary department does not offer a major, such as Education.
  • Review the policy in the ORC/Catalog concerning secondary components of modified majors.
