Book Arts Workshop
In the Book Arts Workshop we teach letterpress printing, bookbinding, illustration techniques and other aspects of making books and other printed materials. We collaborate with faculty to create projects and teach their course lesson through a hands-on, unique experience. We also provide instruction and a space for students—and non-students—to come and learn about books and printing out of curiosity or for specific projects— whether it is through analog or digital means.
The Book Arts Workshop is open to all levels of experience; instruction on using the printing presses and in binding books is given. There is no fee to use the studios during open studio times or to attend workshops, but you must register for workshops. Materials and equipment are provided—unless a large quantity or specific materials are needed. The workshop is open to the Dartmouth community; Dartmouth College students receive preference in registration and use of the studios.
The Book Arts Workshop Instructors are: Sarah Smith, Bob Metzler, Deborah Howe, Won Chung and Lizzie Curren.
For more information contact the Book Arts Program Manager, Sarah Smith.
