Those interested in bookbinding may attend any of the free workshops offered during the term or drop by for an Open Bindery night. No previous experience is necessary, all materials and equipment are provided.
Workshops are limited to 8 participants and advanced registration is required. Starting Fall 2011, registration will be done online using EventBrite. To view and register for our fall workshops, see our current term schedule.
The Bindery Studio is open each Tuesday night from 6-9 pm during fall, winter, and spring terms. Please refer to the current term schedule for information on workshop and Open Bindery dates.
Special note from the instructors:
This year in the Bindery we've added something new! Along with our regular project-based classes and Open Bindery nights, new Core Classes will be offered. Focusing each term on a particular theme, these workshops will introduce basic skills and concepts in bookbinding and the book arts. These Core Classes are intended to help participants gain fundamental skills through a more systematic approach. Due to the nature of our academic calendar, we've made these classes stand-alone workshops, but the material presented will integrate between classes to build a strong foundation in skills. Each term an Equipment Introduction Core Class will be offered, along with other Core Classes based on themes such as Bookbinding Basics, Color, the Standard Book, Repair, Adhesives, and Finishing Details.
Deborah Howe, Stephanie Wolff, Elizabeth Rideout, and Helen Bailey, instructors.
