Dartmouth students, faculty, staff, and registered borrowers may use the "Request Item" button in the Library Catalog to request items from the local off-site collection facilities (Dana, DLD) and the Matthews-Fuller Library, which is at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon. Please note that reference and reserve materials at Matthews-Fuller and Dana are not requestable but can be used at the library.
Items will be delivered to the Circulation Desk of your choice within one to two working days of receipt of the request. Photocopies of articles may be delivered in paper or electronically.
Dartmouth faculty and staff may also use the "Request Item" button to request items from all other libraries at Dartmouth except for Rauner Special Collections. For details, consult the help page regarding Document Delivery Requests.
When you find an item in the Library Catalog that is located at Dana, DLD, or Matthews-Fuller, you can request it by following these steps:
Dartmouth Faculty, Staff or Students will be prompted to log in through Dartmouth's Web Authentication system.
For DHMC, Guest or Affiliated Borrowers, you will be asked to enter your name, DHMC ID number or barcode number on the back of your library card, and PIN (Personal Idenitification Number).
If you don't have a PIN, you will need to create one. Do this by leaving the PIN box blank. You'll be given the opportunity to create a PIN at the end of Step 6 when you click the "Submit above information" button.
If you have forgotten your PIN, please click on the link, "Forgot your PIN?" and follow the instructions.
If you are requesting a specific article from a journal, enter the citation (author, title, volume, number, and pages) in the additional information box provided.
If requesting a multi-volume work or journal and more than one volume is wanted, please indicate the volumes in the additional information box.
If requesting a volume from a journal or a multi-volume work, please identify the volume by clicking the appropriate radio button. Note that only one volume can be chosen per request on this page. Additional volumes from the same title can be indicated in the additional information box on the previous page.
Your request will be recorded in your library account as soon as it is processed. This usually takes one working day.
More information about logging in can be found on the "How to access your library account" help page.
If already logged in, click on the "Back to Account" button at the top of any Library Catalog page.
When you view your holds, you will see the title, status, pickup location and cancel date of holds and recalls that you have placed. Material can have the following status:
It is important to log out after you are finished looking at your library account record. Failure to do so could jeopardize the privacy of your library account if you are using a public computer.
Please contact a Circulation Desk for assistance with the problem you're having.
