Thank you to all who participated in the FUEL IT six-week physical activity and nutrition challenge.
While being active, it's important to fuel your body with the nutrients it needs from fresh fruits and vegetables...and, it's even easier to do this during the summer! Individuals earned points by logging their activity and tracking the number of daily servings of fruits and vegetables they consumed. The goal each day was to log an average of 8,000 steps or more and to consume 5 servings or more of fruits and vegetables. Fun prizes were awarded throughout the challenge, plus all participants who met the final milestone received a reusable grocery tote bag!
The goal each day is to eat 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables. See the below picture for a nice visual of 5 servings! To learn more about how much 1 serving is – check out the quick FUEL IT Minute video here.
5 servings of fruits & vegetables =
- 1 pear
- 1 cup grapes (~half of a sandwich sized bag)
- 2 cups cut vegetables (~3/4 of a sandwich sized bag)
- 1 small can of low-sodium V8 juice
