Clint: "With control of the Jack-O in my hand and my interest in Russia … and the emergence of extreme tendencies in national life--McCarthy hadn't appeared… but the pre-McCarthy stirrings were there and the college and national life were all inflamed with the fact that Russia is about to take over the world… So we put out a "Pravda" issue, making fun of this national hysteria and we put the hammer and sickle boldly on the cover …and then we took that motif and made placards on the day it was published. We posted them all over campus, on the trees, on the pillars at the Inn…and we made the Russian national flag… and unfurled it from Robinson Hall…"

Libby: "We lived on the corner in Wigwam but we lived on the north-west corner on the bottom level and it was so cold…During the winter if you went in to take a shower…you had to be sure that there wasn't ice on the floor of the shower."
