Chair of the Dartmouth Board of Trustees Ed Haldeman '70 has announced that Al Mulley '70 will chair the search for Dartmouth's next president. A member of the Dartmouth board since 2004, Mulley is chief of the General Medicine Division and director of the Medical Practices Evaluation Center at Massachusetts General Hospital and associate professor of medicine and health policy at Harvard Medical School. "I look forward to working closely with Ed and the entire Board of Trustees in the coming months to engage the larger Dartmouth community as we discern together the qualities of leadership that will best serve the College at this moment in its history," says Mulley. It is expected that Haldeman will name the full presidential search committee in early June.
The trustees will be developing a Statement of Leadership Criteria at special board meetings this month. In an April 4 letter, and in subsequent open meetings held on campus, Haldeman said that the board is eager to receive input "about the future of the College and the type of leader that can best carry Dartmouth forward. Al and the rest of the board are committed to ensuring that all members of the Dartmouth community have an opportunity to provide input into the search process."
