Mindfulness in the Museum - 8/27

On Wednesday, August 27 from 5:30p-6:30p, The Hood Museum is partnering with the Shambala Center in WRJ, VT to offer time for guided reflection in the museum while meditating on art. Participants will work with the experience of being mindful and present while opening up their senses and experiencing the full richness of the galleries and the art presented there. Farm Stand Thursdays

The Dartmouth Organic Farm will be selling organic produce including but not limited to kale, lettuce, tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers! The table will be on the Collis Patio (Collis Lobby if raining) from 12 p - 2:30 p on Thursdays.  Pick up some fresh, organic veggies!  Cash/Checks accepted.

Drop-in Event: Smoothie Basics
Stop by for tips on how to make healthy, tasty summertime blends!

Have you attempted to make smoothies at home but have missed the "delicious" mark? Did you know you can include multiple servings of veggies or healthy fats in fantastic frozen concoctions that still tantalize the taste buds? Stop by to sample several blended treats and receive recipes that are easy to make and sure to please!

Food Prep Workshop: Slice and Dice
Sharpen your skills for quick and easy vegetable prep!

Join Dartmouth Health Coach Nancy Duhaime and the Director of Culinary Services at Dartmouth, Ronald Moore, for a demonstration of safe and efficient vegetable preparation. Ron will show the group a variety of kitchen cutlery skills and techniques while preparing a Wheat Berry Salad. Workshop participants will be served a sample of the salad and will also receive a copy of the recipe.

Wellness: Many Perspectives, Many Practices - Training and Development Workshop

Wellness encompasses many areas of our lives and no two people approach it the same way.  Wellness is an active and dynamic process starting from a place of self-reflection that moves us closer to a higher level of self-appreciation as we work toward wellbeing.  During this workshop, you will have the opportunity to begin this work.  At this session, you will be given time to reflect on and identify what choices you may need to make to expand your wellness potential.  The session will include both individual self-assessment and small group interaction.  Register here today!

  • Workshop Themes for Early 2014 included:
    • Making Change Happen - learn tips for setting goals for behavior change, get ideas on how to start making changes, and hear about strategies to maintain these changes over the long-term.
    • The Art of Weight Management - learn about the science behind weight management, get ideas for setting personal goals, learn tips and tools to put into practice, and develop strategies to support long-term weight management.
    • Life in the Fast Lane - explore how you can re-think stress to make it a more positive force in your life, gain practical solutions for working fitness and nutrition into your busy life, and learn how being more "mindful" can lead to lasting stress management benefits.
  • All workshops were delivered on the Main Campus and either Centerra or DHMC locations.

Looking for a Customized Workshop?

Wellness at Dartmouth in partnership with the Dartmouth Health Coahes are offering customized health and wellness workshops for departments to help further support employees on their path to well-being.  Workshops can be on a variety of topics.  Some ideas of workshops include topics such as workplace stretching; fitness-related devices and apps; mid-winter blues; mindfulness; nutrition; and exercise.
