To the Dartmouth community,
It is with great regret that we must inform you of the terrible news that a female graduate from the class of 2012 died suddenly at her home off-campus in Hanover today. The authorities are investigating; the death is not being treated as suspicious. Police are in the process of notifying the family. Out of respect for their privacy, we are not releasing anything further. The College has reached out to students known to be close friends to offer support.
Dartmouth is a compassionate community where the troubles of any one of us are a concern for all of us. We want you to know that your friends, your family and numerous counselors are available to listen and help you. Community directors are currently checking in with students in the residence halls. We urge students who would like to speak to a counselor or a chaplain, on their own behalf or out of concern for someone else, to call Safety and Security at 603-646-4000. They will connect you with one of the counselors on duty or a chaplain. You can call that number throughout the night. The Counseling and Human Development department will be open tomorrow morning at 8 am with extended hours through the weekend.
We will be in touch as we have more information to share.
