Summer 2020 Policy

Eligibility

Students not on probation, warning, or first term of ‘risk’

All students enrolled and taking courses summer 2020

Decision Point

• Decision to use NRO must be made in the first fifteen days of term.

• Up to five days before last day of classes, can revise the cutoff grade

Unchanged

Extent

• One course per term

• At most three NRs over their career

• Up to three courses for Summer 2020

• Summer 2020 courses do not count towards maximum of three NRs over student career

Limitations on Use

• Cannot be used to satisfy major requirements

• Cannot be used to satisfy world culture, or distributive requirements

• Can be used for major prerequisites

• Can be used for at most one course in a minor

• Students can have at most eight final standings of CT, NC, NR, E. on their transcript.

• May use to satisfy major requirements with permission of the department/program.

• At most one course in the minor, including prerequisite courses, may be used toward satisfying the minor.

• All other limitations removed unless a course is designated “out of bounds” by the department or program.

No change. However, all courses will be designated eligible for NRO unless otherwise specified. Departments and Programs specify any courses that are “out of bounds” for summer 2020, independent of previous designations.
