Professor Stephan Ehrig

Professor Stephan Ehrig (University of Glasgow) Spring of 2028 (Geography Department)
Stephan Ehrig is a Lecturer in German at the School of Modern Languages and Cultures. He convenes Level 2 German Culture and Language, act as core convener for Culture 2 across SMLC, and also organise the year abroad for German.
Within the School, he is the Quality Officer and co-convenes the Environmental Humanities Research Theme.
Outside of Glasgow, he is the Secretary of the Association for German Studies in the UK and Ireland (AGS), the Reviews Editor for Oxford German Studies, as well as on the Editorial Board of German Screen Studies (Berghahn).
He studied German Literature and Theology at the Universities of Leipzig (Germany) and Aix-Marseille (France) and received his PhD from the University of Bristol in 2017 with a dissertation on the Marxist appropriation of 19th century author Heinrich von Kleist in East German literature and theatre. Before joining Glasgow, he spent four years in Dublin (Ireland) as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the UCD Humanities Institute and School of Art History and Cultural Policy, preceded by posts at Durham University, and the Institute for Languages, Cultures and Societies (ILCS, former IMLR), University of London.
