In addition to updating space and floor plans, we assist the Provost with the allocation of space among competing campus priorities, integrate space planning with campus-wide planning objectives, identify options for space efficiency to meet program priorities, and develop and implement space guidelines.
Joanna Whitcomb - Senior Director of Campus Planning
As Senior Director of Campus Planning, Joanna Whitcomb manages master planning for facilities, land use, transportation, landscapes and space allocation in support of Dartmouth's mission. Her office works closely with senior officers, campus colleagues, and community partners to inform and implement institutional facilities priorities.
Dave Anderson - Senior Planner
Dave Anderson works as a Senior Planner in the Campus Planning Office, serving a key leadership role as part of the team that guides the future physical development of Dartmouth. He provides strategic and long-range planning for the programming, design, and development of campus properties and facilities, with an emphasis on site planning, landscape planning, active mobility planning, and wayfinding. Dave has several decades of experience in municipal planning and serves as the department’s primary liaison to the Town of Hanover.
Katie Dietrich - Space Planner
Katie is a space planner and designer who focuses on identifying solutions for interior space needs across campus. By meeting directly with stakeholders on campus to understand their programmatic requirements, Katie makes recommendations for space allocation and prepares preliminary scopes of work for the modification of interior space to better serve their functional needs.
Kevin Nelson - Spatial Database Manager
Spatial Database Manager Kevin is a GIS expert who oversees Dartmouth’s mapping program and the space component of our Integrated Work Management System. His work in space data helps to increase the effectiveness of planning, improve the efficiency of operations management, communicate with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and others, as well as provide an educational resource.
