Helpful search tools and links

The Digital Library at Dartmouth has an eResources portal that can help you begin your research in the Social Sciences. Librarians have organized library resources specifically for Dartmouth students. The folders are organized by academic discipline. Each folder includes links to resources that are licensed for Dartmouth community use only and sites that are freely available on the web.

Also included in the folders are links to Research Guides that can help you get started with your topic, and a link to email a Subject Specialist, a librarian who can help you with your research.

Click on a folder (for example, Anthropology, Government , or Native American Studies) to access links to electronic resources such as indexes, bibliographies, subject-specific encyclopedias, and research guides.

In addition to the library's excellent resources, the Web offers many sites that can can help you locate sources. For instance, Diana Hacker's online text, Research and Documentation Online provides a hub site through which to access Social Science research links. This site also provides general advice re: researching in the Social Sciences, as well as information on documenting sources.
