"I believe that faith is action, and LDSSA has helped me to stay very active in my religious beliefs during my time at Dartmouth. Though our group is small and diverse, in them I have felt a supporting family that has been essential to my sense of community at Dartmouth." -Sarah A. Bradford Merrill
"My affiliation with the LDSSA has been a wonderful aspect of my time at Dartmouth. Not only has it put me in touch with incredibly talented students that share my moral and religious beliefs, but also members of the upper valley community. This, perhaps more than anything else, has facilitated making Dartmouth feel like a home, and making me feel like I'm an important member of the Upper Valley community." -Bryce C. LaPierre
Some of the purposes of LDSSA are as follows:
Each week students meet for gospel instruction/study of revealed scripture with a Church-authorized instructor and with the approved curriculum that is used world-wide by college-age Latter-day Saint groups. Students also meet for weekly Family Home Evenings which encompasses family-style activities, gospel discussions, and refreshments. Individuals in the group assist the local congregation in many ways such as serving as teachers, leaders, and through direct service to members of the congregation with various needs. Members also participate in regional activities with other Latter-day Saint college students throughout New England several times during the year. They also give temple service at least once each quarter.
CES Institute of Religion study takes place each Wednesday evening. Email ldssa@dartmouth.edu for current location and time.
