Environmental Conservation Organization

The Environmental Conservation Organization is a network of personal contacts in dorms and student houses who seek to improve recycling, composting, and energy conservation by setting the example, spreading information, and doing creative projects and stunts. ECO’s greatness comes from the simplicity of its single goal: to make Dartmouth the first sustainable community in the world. Is this possible? Absolutely, because eventually, sustainability is going to be a necessity, and since someone has to start, it might as well be us. Dartmouth has more students, more faculty, more administrators and more community members that care about environmental issues than almost any place you’ll find. Add the fact that we are an intellectual community able to find solutions to the many challenges that sustainability brings and the fact that the College has a substantial resource base with which to attack the problem and all you need is an organization that can bring focus to the effort.
