Green to Gold Program

As an Active Duty Regular Army soldier you may be eligible for a commission through the Green to Gold Program. The Green to Gold program allows you to obtain your baccalaureate degree through one of two methods.

  • Green to Gold Scholarship Option - For Soldiers who are considering leaving Active Duty Regular Army to attend college.
  • Green to Gold Active Duty Option - For Soldiers who want to remain on Active Duty through the Regular Army and attend college as their place of duty.

Soldiers who have two to four years of college remaining to complete their degree are considered for a two to four year scholarship. The benefits of this scholarship are:

Green to Gold Scholarship Benefits

  • Tuition or room and board support
  • Additional money for textbooks, supplies, and equipment
  • A monthly stipend increasing each academic year
  • If qualified, Montgomery G.I. Bill / Army College Fund benefits

In order to receive a Green to Gold Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:

Green to Gold Scholarship Criteria

  • Be a United States citizen
  • Less than 31 years of age on the 31st of December of the year you complete all commissioning and baccalaureate degree requirements
  • Cannot have been convicted in a domestic violence crime
  • Have a minimum of 2 years Active Duty as well as 3 months of active duty for every one month of specialized training (waiverable)
  • GT score of 110 or greater
  • Pass the APFT within the last six months with a score fo 180 or higher
  • Be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • Cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.5
  • Letter of Acceptance to Dartmouth College or a partnership school
  • Letter of Acceptance from the Professor of Military Science at Dartmouth College
  • Favorable National Agency check
  • DODMERB Medical Qualification
  • Be eligible for reenlistment
  • Not be a conscientious objector
  • No more than 3 dependents including spouse (waiverable)

Simultaneous Membership Program

As an Army National Guard or Army Reserve Soldier attending Dartmouth College, you can participate in the simultaneous membership program. This program will allow you to earn your commission through ROTC and continue drilling with your unit. In addition to a monthly allowance, while in the Simultaneous Membership Program Soldiers also receive the drill pay of a Sergeant, approximately $288 per month. SMP Soldiers are not eligible for regular Army ROTC scholarships. SMP Soldiers who receive their commission and do not accept a Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty or Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarship may be eligible to compete for placement on Active Duty in the Regular Army.

Guaranteed Reserve / National Guard Scholarships

If you are a prior service student or enlisted service member in the either the Regular Army, Army Reserve, Army National Guard, or serving in another branch of the Armed Forces with the intention of continuing your service in the Army Reserve or Army National Guard upon graduation and commissioning; a Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty or Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarship may be the best option for you. Additionally, you can participate in the simultaneous membership program. Upon graduation you will then continue to serve in the Army National Guard and Army Reserve components of the Army. This is a great opportunity for any Reservist who would like to become an Army Officer.

 

In order to receive a Dedicated Army National Guard Scholarship or Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty Scholarship you must meet the following requirements:

Reserve Force Scholarship Requirements

  • Be a full time student, with 4 semesters or 6 Quarter Terms remaining
  • Have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Be recommended by the Professor of Military Science
  • Be a United States citizen
  • Meet required medical and physical fitness standards
