The Office of Visa & Immigration Services (OVIS) assists Dartmouth College in developing and maintaining a dynamic and intercultural environment by facilitating the presence of international students, scholars, faculty and staff on campus through immigration and visa sponsorship. The Office advises Dartmouth internationals on U.S. visa application processes, maintenance of legal immigration status, and also provides U.S. visa, immigration and tax information to College offices and departments that admit, host, sponsor, or work with internationals. The Office is responsible for institutional compliance with government regulations relating to the admission or hiring of internationals, including management of the Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) data tracking and reporting. For more information on the OVIS, including location, hours of operation, or to visit your Advisor's specific informational webpage please visit our Contact page.
International students, scholars, faculty and staff who will be traveling internationally during the holiday break should be sure to have your immigration documents in order prior to departing the U.S. For those making visa applications at U.S. consulates, be prepared for possible delays in visa issuance. This checklist can help you to prepare for your trip.
OVIS will be closed from noon on Friday, December 20, 2013 until January 2, 2014. Thursday, December 19 is the last day to request a travel signature for Form I-20 or Form DS-2019. Travel signatures will not be available during the holiday break. In the event of an emergency, the Office of Safety & Security will be able to reach an OVIS immigration advisor if necessary.
