Paid Leave Time for Hurricane Katrina Volunteers

Dartmouth faculty and staff who are interested in volunteering for organizations responding to hurricane relief efforts may be granted up to three (3) weeks of paid leave time.  The College supports the government's request to direct individuals to official volunteer organizations to provide this kind of assistance.  The Red Cross is a good resource to learn about which groups need assistance.  Requests for leave should be made to the appropriate dean or administrative department head with documentation supporting involvement in a volunteer organization.  The dean or department head has the discretion to approve requests and determine the impact on teaching or operations. Leaves may be for deployment to the areas affected or to other locations that are supporting relief efforts and may be taken through the end of the calendar year 2005.  The paid leave will be based on standard hours and will not count against time off balances.  Please contact your Human Resources Consultant if you have any questions.
