What's New in Classics

The Department of Classics would like to introduce our two newest visiting Professors: Katherine Kretler & Elissa Faro.  


Katherine Kretler, our two-year visitor coming to us from The University of Chicago, Committee on Social Thought.  She received her A.B., magna cum laude in Psychology and the study of religion from Harvard University.  Her interests are ancient Greek poetry, religion and philosophy; performance; psychoanalytic theory.  Professor Kretler will be teaching introductory & intermediate Latin & Greek courses as well as our Greek Theatre course in the upcoming 2008-2009 academic year.  


Elissa Faro our Archaeology visitor received her Ph.D. in Classical Art & Archaeology, an MA in Classical Archaeology as well as an MA in Anthropology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  She specializes in the Bronze Age Aegean and the development of complex societies.  Professor Faro will be teaching Archaeology and Greek history courses this upcoming 2008-2009 academic year as well as joining Professor Christesen on the Greece FSP in spring 2009.
