Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD)

Summer Enrichment at Dartmouth (SEAD) empowers promising high school students from under-resourced backgrounds to thrive in high school and college. Founded at Dartmouth in 2001, SEAD provides Dartmouth students with transformative opportunities for service and leadership.

About the Program

The program brings students from around the country to Hanover, where they take classes taught by professional educators, explore a multitude of collegiate activities run by student organizations, and develop intimate relationships with Dartmouth community members. The scholars return every summer for four years to strengthen those bonds as they prepare for, apply to, and transition into college.

Working with Minors

If your group has any interaction with minors at events on or off campus, the following policy must be followed:

Working with Minors

Get Involved

Sophomore Summer

The Sophomore Summer experience forms the backbone of SEAD's summer session, with over 150 volunteers involved, as academic coaches, mentors, summer advisors, and hosts of meals and activities. Many of these volunteers go on to become residential staff members and potentially members of the SEAD leadership team. Volunteer applications are submitted early in the spring term, and staff applications are submitted in the winter.

Leave-Term Internships

The SEAD Internship experience sends a Dartmouth undergraduate student into each partner school to spend eight weeks serving as an intern, working to maintain contact between the on-campus summer program and the SEAD students, their parents or guardians, and their school advisors.
