At our most recent Dinner With a Doc event, we were fortunate enough to gain insight into what a “family in medicine” looks like. Our guests included Dr. Nirav Kapadia, a Dartmouth 03′, radiation oncologist, and the director of clinical outreach at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center in St. Johnsbury, Vermont. His wife, Dr. Alison Kapadia, an emergency medicine physician who practices at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Their lovely young daughter was also in attendance!

During our dinner, we discussed the unique journeys of the two families as well as the pros and cons of having a career in the medical field. Student attendees were able to ask questions regarding work/life balance, living in the Upper Valley, and the importance of choosing a specialty you love. Overall, it was a rewarding experience for students and guest speakers alike as we were able to reflect on our career and family goals.
