This page contains information about transfer credits, housing, and degree requirements.
If you are admitted as a transfer student, you will need to have your final official transcript sent directly from your previous institution(s) to the Office of Registrar. Additionally, you will be responsible for submitting syllabi for each course you completed to the Registrar for evaluation. The materials should be forwarded to the Office of the Registrar as soon as you complete your final term.
Transfer credit is awarded for liberal arts courses completed at four year degree granting institutions. Credit will not be given for courses that are more elementary than those for which Dartmouth normally grants credit (Pre-calculus, for example) or do not fall within the liberal arts (Bookkeeping or Marketing, for example). Credits given by the previous institution(s) for courses taken prior to matriculation, also will be evaluated according to Dartmouth standards. All departments or programs reserve the right to restrict the granting of transfer credit.
For further information concerning degree requirements, transfer requirements, and credit granting procedures, please see the Dartmouth Registrars Office web site.
Specific questions regarding the granting of transfer credit can be directed to Sally Gonzalez, Associate Registrar, 6014 McNutt Hall, Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH, 03755, or via email at Registrar@Dartmouth.EDU.
If you are accepted as a transfer student, you are guaranteed on-campus housing for your first term at Dartmouth. After the first term at Dartmouth, you must apply for housing through the Office of Residential Life.
If you wish to live off-campus during your first term, you must receive permission to do so from the Upperclass Dean's Office.
For more information concerning housing policies, please visit the Office of Residential Life's web site or contact the Undergraduate Housing Office at (603) 646-3093 or email Residential.Life@Dartmouth.EDU.
