About the Logo
The logo shows a simulated slow transverse (ST) phonon image for 45 degree twist-bonded
(001) GaAs. In twist bonding, the two wafer pieces are rotated 45 degrees
around (001) before being brought into contact for bonding. The computer
generated image uses a simple acoustic mismatch model to predict the flux
of ST phonons which scatter into new ST modes at the solid-solid
interface. The angular width from the center of the image to one edge is
approximately 38 degrees. (M.E. Msall, prepublication)
