Mr. Chu is a founding partner of the IGNIA Fund, which invests equity capital in commercial enterprises in Latin America serving low income markets in areas with disproportionate impact on poverty, such as healthcare, housing, education and basic services. Mr. Chu also holds an appointment to the faculty of the Harvard Business School as Senior Lecturer, where he focuses on business and low income sectors and emerging markets. He remains a Senior Advisor to Pegasus Capital, a private equity investment firm in Buenos Aires which he co-founded. From 1994 to 1999 he was President & CEO of ACCION International, a global pioneer of the microfinance industry. Prior to that, from 1989 to 1993, he was an executive and limited partner in the New York office of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. He joined the private equity firm from PACE Industries, a KKR-sponsored leveraged buyout, where he served as Senior Vice President & CFO. Mr. Chu was also Vice President & CFO of City Investing International and a management consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. At Dartmouth he was the recipient of the Palaeopitus-Ray W. Smith Award. In 1976 he received an M.B.A. with highest distinction from Harvard Business School. In 1995 he was awarded a D.B.A. honoris causa by Bryant College. A native of China, Mr. Chu grew up in Uruguay. He is married to Victoria Cowling Chu and has one son, Nicolas '06.
