Technology for New Students

WE WELCOME YOU (and your computer!) TO DARTMOUTH.

Without a doubt, setting-up your personal computer will be one of the most important things you do upon arriving at Dartmouth. Luckily, we have amazing consultants who will assist you in configuring your computer to Dartmouth's systems and downloading necessary applications, and who will introduce you to the wealth of online resources available to you from Dartmouth.

Look for the Technology Set-Up and Services session that

  • corresponds to your Dartmouth Outing Club First-Year Trip RETURN or
  • corresponds to your Pre-Orientation program, or
  • takes place on Wednesday, September 5 when you arrive at Dartmouth and move-in to the residence halls.

You should only attend one session.

REMEMBER: Bring your fully-charged laptop and smartphone to this session. Make sure it is unpacked, turned on and ready to go! During your Technology Set-Up and Services session, you will configure your computer for the network, and get the general software installed that you'll need for your academic work at Dartmouth.

Where do I get my computer?

The Computer Store is located in the "lower level" of McNutt Hall.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Installation of Core Dartmouth Software via DartHub

• Please install this software if you are able.
• In DartHub, click on the Core Software for Students tile to learn more about the software available for students.
• If you don't have time, don't have an Internet connection, won't have your computer until you arrive at Dartmouth, or run into issues with these installs, don't worry! These applications and other services will be introduced during the Technology Set-up and Services session you are required to attend as soon as you arrive on campus.
• Information Technology staff will ensure everyone is all set up and ready to go!

"Help!" (What if I need help with my computer once I have attended the session?)

The IT Service Desk (Help Desk) is here to help with any of your technology questions or problems! Computers, phones, software, TV, cables, printers, etc. Don't hesitate to contact us if you have a question.

Location = 178J Berry Library

Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You can reach the Help Desk via e-mail at help@dartmouth.edu, via phone at 603.646-2999 or stop by and see them in Berry Library.

I'm so excited! When is my Technology Set-Up and Services session?
