When You Arrive

We're so excited that you're here!

To help you in your transition to Dartmouth, we've compiled some super useful instructions and information (see below).

Additionally, we've created an Access website to hopefully answer some of your questions regarding access challenge concerns: https://www.dartmouth.edu/~orientation/access.html.

Welcome Packet

All of the information contained in the Orientation Welcome Packet can be found at the First-Year Students Page on the Undergraduate Deans Office website.

DartCard (Dartmouth ID card)

Important reminder: in order to pick up your DartCard (Dartmouth ID card), you will need to bring an additional form of picture identification.

Upon your arrival on campus, you will need to pick up your DartCard from Campus Billing and DartCard Services on the main level of McNutt Hall, in room 103.

  • If you are participating in a First-Year Trip, you should pick up your card before or after your trip. Please note that our offices are not open on the weekend, so plan accordingly.
  • If you are not participating in a Trip, you should pick up your card after you arrive on September 10. You will need your DartCard throughout New Student Orientation, so plan on getting your card prior to 4pm that day.

  • Monday – Friday, 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

If you have not yet uploaded a photo, you have until 11:59 P.M. EST on August 21. Click here to submit.

Computer Pickup

If you ordered your computer from the Computer Store, you will need to pick up from the Computer Store on the basement level of McNutt Hall, in room 001. Access using the ramp on the side of McNutt between Parkhurst and McNutt Halls.

  • If you are participating in a First-Year Trip, you should plan your pick up before or after your trip based on the Computer Store's hours.
  • If you are not participating in a Trip and are moving into your residence hall on September 10, you should pick up your computer before 1:00 P.M that day.

  • Monday - Friday from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
  • Closed on Monday, September 2 (Labor Day).

Moving In to Your Residence Hall

Watch for emails the week of August 19 from Undergraduate Housing with details about your arrival date.

Regardless of your arrival date, all incoming students must visit Orientation Check-in, Key Pick-up, and House Community Welcome on September 10. Full schedule information forthcoming!

As a reminder, Housing is not able to accommodate early arrivals. If you do plan to arrive early, you must plan to stay off campus until your arrival date.

Technology Set-up and Services

All incoming students are required to attend a Technology Set-up and Service session conducted by Information, Technology and Consulting (ITC) to ensure your devices are set up for your academic work. ITC will also introduce the technology services that you will be using during your time at Dartmouth. Information about your assigned session will be provided as part of your Pre-Orientation (if applicable) or Orientation schedule. Full schedule information forthcoming!

Core software is available at not cost via DartHub (Core Software for Students tile).

  • Please install this software if you are able.
  • If you purchased your computer from the Computer Store, the core software will already be installed.
  • If you don't have time, don't have an Internet connection, won't have your computer until you arrive at Dartmouth, or run into issues with these installs, don't worry! These applications and other services will be introduced during the Technology Set-up and Services session you are required to attend as soon as you arrive on campus.
