Bob: “The first thing the College did was shorten the semester so that we were all through with our first semester in March instead of June.  I never did get back to the Dartmouth campus until after the War ended because, when I left here in March, there was the certainty of the draft ahead of me and I just happened to sign up for a Signal Corps training program that I’d seen advertised in the Boston Herald.  It was right in line with things I was interested in because I wanted to be a radio engineer at that time since television hadn’t been invented and I wanted to get into radio because there was so much good music involved."

Marge: "It [Wigwam Circle] was a wonderful experience because everybody was in the same boat and everybody got together to do things together. We went to the laundry underneath Thayer School.… I was a registered nurse and I worked at Dick's House until I was pregnant with my first child. After that I didn't work any more…. We also took on feeding two of the undergraduates for lunch to make a little money. It worked out very well…. Tomato soup I can remember and I haven't eaten tomato soup since. And vegetable soup, canned vegetable soup and tomato soup."
