Nelson: “It [Dartmouth] was a strange experience for me. I think Ernest Martin Hopkins was the president then and there was a long line of students greeting the president or the president greeting them. Everybody before me, he said, ‘Oh, I remember your uncle, ‘ or, ‘I remember your father.’  And when he got to me there was nothing to remember. But I realized that I was in a kind of special place where wealthy people were attending.”
