Huntly Allison

Allison, Huntly, Green Book image Name: Huntly Allison
Class: 1942
Military Unit: US Naval Reserve

Listen to the interview:

Huntly: "[After Pearl Harbor], we did sign up for V-7 but they sent us back to college to graduate that spring [of 1942]. As a matter of fact, I got an acute stomach ulcer and when I showed up at the Prairie State for my Naval training, I said, 'I'm sorry but I have a stomach ulcer and I have to have a glass of milk every two hours.' I lasted about ten minutes.  In about ten minutes I was discharged. So I was classified 1C, which is a military discharge, through the whole war. And I spent the whole war working for American Airlines."
