Paddock Music Library Collections
Paddock Music Library's collections support any music related subject area by providing print, media and digital resources covering most genres of music, including classical, popular, jazz and world music.
Materials are selected to support the curriculum of the Music Department, needs of other academic departments, and to a lesser degree, general use by the broader Dartmouth community and beyond. You may wish to refer to the Music and Ethnomusicology Collection Development Policy.
Paddock Music Library has over 76,000 printed volumes of books, bound journals and scores, some housed in the Music Library, and some in the Storage Library. This includes reference and circulating books covering music history and music theory, and scores in facsimile, critical, study and performing editions.
The Library subscribes to about 275 music serial titles. Both print and online discovery tools are available to search for individual articles.
Sound and Video Recordings
The library houses more than 29,000 sound recordings in all genres of music. The compact discs are located in the Music Library, and the LP sound recordings are in the Library Depository. There are also more than 1,400 music video recordings, and equipment is available to play diverse media formats.
Digital and Web-Based
The Library also provides access to various digital and web-based books/scores/serials, streaming audio databases, and electronic indexes and reference resources accessible through the Library Catalog.
