  1. Treasurer (Joyce Thurston)
    As of May 30, 2008:
    Income: $1625.99 from the craft fair
    Expenses:
    - $1752.53: Awards Ceremony
    - $1810.16: Holiday party
    - $954.15: Flowers (get well, retirement, departures)
    - $727.28: Cleaning supplies
    - $1320.00: Scholarships
    Balance in checkbook as of May 30, 2008: $3868.90
    Balance from the main office account, receiving around the end of June: $400.00
    Approximately $1300.00 for EBA's luncheon on June 17th, this will leave about $1500.00 for scholarships and welfare disbursement until new money on July 1, 2008.
  2. Welfare (Danada Dinsmore on behalf of Julie McIntyre)
    Donations/Plants:
    - 1 birth, 6 illness/surgery, 8 death, 1 wedding (16 total)
  3. Social (Marianne Densmore)
    For the coming year:
    - Awards banquet will be Thursday September 11, 2008
    - Holiday Party
    - June 17th: EBA's lunch from 11:30-2:00
  4. Program (Goodie Corriveau)
    - June 6, 2007: History of Bellydancing followed by a group lesson
    - September 20, 2007: Tour of new green architecture on campus given by Jack Wilson
    - October 11, 2007: Book Workers Guild tour given by Deborah Howe and Stephanie Wolff
    - January 31, 2008: Talk and slideshow on a trip to Zambia given by Fran Oscadal
    - Next program: fundraiser for craft fair fee at EBA's lunch (raffle)
  5. Craft Fair (Barb Krieger)
    - Price of the venue has gone way up, considering having a bake sale at the fair
    - Fair is a major fundraiser for the scholarship fund
    - Will be held November 21st, Friday before Thanksgiving
  6. Scholarships (Danada Dinsmore)
    - Summer: 8 health/fitness, 1 arts
    - Fall: 6 health/fitness, 1 academic
    - Winter: 3 health/fitness
    - Spring: 6 health/fitness

    Big change: now allow multi-term reimbursements, this caused the amount given out to triple

Staff Room Cleaning (Chris Curtis)

  • DCLSA annual budget = $7000.00
  • Cleaning is done by Jessie Bunten for $60/month, $720 year which is >10% of budget
  • $100 year on cleaning supplies
  • No budget increase sine 2000
  • Issues/Ideas:
    - how will staff room be cleaned?
    - $ will not be cut off immediately, stop after 90 or 120 days
    - budget increase has been addressed, not happening any time soon
    - volunteers by department, change every month?
    - new liaison to coordinate cleaning?
    - rotate through departments in alphabetical order?
  • Voted to remove the expense from budget
    - Cherie Burns (acquisitions) volunteered to make a schedule
