Dennis Brown's Brownies
Submitted by: Dennis Brown, Baker-Berry, Reserves Here is a great brownie recipe, "The ideal, just-a-bite-to-eat for everyone."


      • 4 pz. unsweetened chocolate
      • 2/3 cup shortening (butter, crisco or margarine, etc)
      • 2 cups sugar
      • 4 eggs
      • 1 tsp vanilla
      • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flower
      • 1 tsp. baking powder
      • 1 tsp. salt
      • 1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350

Grease pan (13x9x2)

Melt chocolate and shortening over low heat

Beat in sugar, eggs, and vanilla

Stir flower, baking powder, salt; blend in

Mix in nuts

Spread in pan

Bake 30 mins (Dennis acknowledges the batter typically needs 40-45 minutes)

Cool slighlty and cut into bars. Bakes 32 brownies
