Procedure Field 998

For newly created cataloged items in Millennium (EAD) field 998 records the initials of the person who downloaded the bibliographic record.

To create a 998 field, do this:

  • Add Innopac field tag 'y' /MARC tag 998 |c[cataloger's initials] (for example, 988 bb |cabc).

Procedure Field 090

Field 090 records information about actions taken on an existing bibliographic record (i.e., reclass, recat, correction, transfer). This field is also used to generate statistics. The bibliographic record should have only one 090 field to record actions (and only one |f).

To create an 090 field, do this:

  • Add Innopac field tag 'y' /MARC tag 090 |f[action code] [yymmdd] [cataloger's initials lower case] (for example, 090 bb |fcorr. 070901 abc).

See "Action Code Definitions," for a list of action codes and their definitions.

Multiple actions

If more than one action code applies, list action codes IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE and separate them by a comma, i.e., |f[action code], [action code] [yymmdd] [cataloger's initials lower case] (for example, 090 bb |fcorr., upd. 070901 abc). Only the first code will be used for statistics.

See "Action Code Definitions" or the "Quick Reference Summary" for a ranked list of action codes.

Examples

Adding a new copy or an additional volume and making a change to the bibliographic record (and when necessary to any attached records).
090 bb |fcop., corr. 970528 bb

Recataloging and transferring to a new location.
090 bb |frecat., trans. 961024 cpt.

090 Already present.

If there is already an 090 bb |f[action code] present, put your action in first, next to the |f and separate it from the previous action with a semi-colon (for example, 090 bb |fcorr., upd. 070901 abc; cop. 070701 xyz).

Example

Present 090: 090 |fcorr. 961004 mfm
You transfer and change to: 090 |ftrans. 961024 mh ; corr. 961004 mfm

Previous action date over a year old.

If the action is over a year old, you can completely delete it and then add your current action code.

Example

Present 090: 090 |fcorr. pi 9/05
You recat and change to: 090 |frecat. 051024 pi

TIP Enter a space between abbrev. and date, and between date and initials.
