WebPac Implementation Team : Search Limit Subgroup

  1. Evaluate and test all aspects of the WebPac limit function.
  2. Consult the Innovative User’s Manual and CSDirect for available limit options.
  3. Evaluate the design/layout features of the Limit Search screen and make improvements if necessary and possible.
  4. Determine which features from the Innopac character based system and other WebPacs are desirable in our WebPac limit function.
  5. Determine whether adequate data feeds each limit and where the data is coming from in the bibliographic record  (i.e. Can we increase the number of language options and which codes in the record provide this information). Repair any misleading limit options (i.e. Material Type).
  6. Provide user education through onscreen help.
  7. Document desirable features that are not available in the system and formulate enhancement requests based on those deficiencies.
  8. Keep in mind that search limits depend on consistent application of data in bibliographic records. Some clean up of records my be required to achieve consistancy. For example, do all of our sound recording records have 007 fields?
  9. Investigate the Innovative Search Scoping module and make a recommendation to the WebPac Team on its viability.
  10. Generate a report to be included as part of the WebPac Implementation Team final report.
  11. Target for completion: Sept. 15, 2000.
