At Dartmouth College, we take sexual harassment seriously.

Dartmouth seeks to maintain a learning and working environment free from sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a barrier to the educational, scholarly, and research purposes of the College and is a matter of particular concern to a community in which students, faculty, and staff are expected to live and work in an atmosphere of intellectual dependence and trust.

Sexual harassment of students, faculty, or employees at Dartmouth constitutes a violation of the College's equal opportunity policy and, in some instances, the student Standards of Conduct. Sexual harassment may also violate state and federal law. Alcohol, drugs, peer pressure, promise of academic award, or ignorance will under no circumstances excuse infractions of this policy.

Dartmouth is aware of the importance of handling all allegations of sexual harassment with sensitivity and confidentiality. The College's response to reports of sexual harassment may include informal and formal mediation, education, counseling, or discipline, depending on the circumstances. In all situations, it will be Dartmouth's aim to protect the rights of all individuals involved and to safeguard the welfare of the Dartmouth community.

To help prevent instances of sexual harassment, the Department of Human Resources, the Office of Institutional Diversity & Equity, the Center for Women and Gender, and the Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Committee (SASH) continuously strive to educate members of the Dartmouth community about:
