Employee Recognition Program Logo

The Lone Pine Recognition Program provides a variety of ways in which we recognize employees for their outstanding contributions to Dartmouth.  This comprehensive program aims to foster a deeper culture of appreciation across campus by recognizing the efforts of our colleagues; promoting collaboration and teamwork; acknowledging the value of diversity and inclusion; and honoring staff who excel at their jobs and exhibit behaviors that model the core values of the College.

Lone Pine Excellence Awards

Building upon the annual Employee Service Awards, the Lone Pine Recognition Program will serve as the new home of our flagship Sheila Culbert Distinguished Employee Award, the College's highest staff honor, and will include five additional staff awards, each with a monetary prize, for individuals and/or teams in the following categories: Collaboration, Passion and Commitment, Innovation, Leadership, and Unsung Hero.

The 2018 nominations will be accepted November 1 - December 14 and the selected winners will be recognized at a special event on April 3, 2019.

Lone Pine Peer Recognition

Peer recognition is designed to create a culture of recognition and appreciation between peers as well as between supervisors and staff on a consistent basis. When thinking about recognizing peers or staff, individuals should possess at least one, if not more, of the following criteria and can be recognized through a variety of ways, such as saying a simple thank you, or being recognized in the Staff Snapshot:

  • Go above and beyond job expectations on specific tasks
  • Consistently embody the core values of Dartmouth
  • Help a colleague complete a task, or fill in for a team member
  • Go out of their way to show kindness and generosity to their peers
  • Make a difference around campus that often goes unnoticed
  • Possess an unwavering positive attitude

Gratitude Baskets

Gratitude Basket

Appreciate your peers often!  Gratitude baskets are located in over 70 key locations around campus and are filled with a variety of cards to use as a quick and easy way to recognize and thank your colleagues for a job well done.  Find a basket near you, take a card, write a note, and then deliver it to your peer (e.g. drop off in their work space, put into their mailbox, or send it via Hinman mail; to find individual Hinman Box numbers click here).

Staff Snapshot

Do you know a peer that has done something interesting, innovative or inspiring on campus or in the community?  Nominate a peer for the Staff Snapshot!

Employees selected will be interviewed by the Office of Communications.  Their Staff Snapshot article will appear in the VOX and will be showcased on the recognition webpage, and they will be presented with a piece of Dartmouth gear.  Individuals may only be recognized one time per year.
