Dartmouth Compliance Matrix

Complex organizations such as Dartmouth comply with a multitude of policies, laws, and regulations.  Risk and Internal Controls has developed a compliance matrix to guide the Dartmouth community in identifying key compliance areas, the Dartmouth staff responsible for various aspects of compliance oversight, and where to go to learn more about each compliance area.

WORKING WITH TRANSGENIC ORGANISMS

The Dartmouth Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversees all research involving recombinant DNA technology in accordance with the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules (2013).
ALL researchers, regardless of funding source, are required to following the regulations set forth in the NIH Guidelines since Dartmouth is an NIH funded institution.
The following IBC approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) were written as guidance documents for the containment, disposal, and incident reporting procedures when working with transgenic organisms.
SOP #300.3: Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Incident Spill Response and Reporting SOP
SOP #310.2: Working with Transgenic/Genetically Altered Vertebrate Animals
SOP #320.3: Working with Transgenic/Genetically Altered Plants
SOP #330.3: Working with Transgenic/Genetically Altered BSL1 Organisms/Microorganisms (excluding vertebrates and plants)
