Cards for Employees

All regular Dartmouth employees are entitled to a Dartmouth I.D. card. The Card is a convenient tool for campus-related needs and amenities, such as discounts to performances and movies at the Hopkins Center; entry to buildings with permitted access; and, use at libraries across campus to borrow books, journals, CDs and DVDs.

Your ID card can also be used to receive discounts at local merchants and national companies participating in the D-Perks program.

More information about the benefits programs offered by Human resources can be accessed by visiting the following links:;

For more information on the Benefits of the Dartmouth ID card, please consult with a Human Resources Consultant.

Obtaining an I.D. Card

To obtain a card, contact the Dartmouth I.D. Card Office. You must present a valid form of photo ID such as a passport or state-issued I.D. or Driver's License. Once a Dartmouth I.D. card is issued and entered into our system, reprinted I.D. cards do not require this verification.

Some departments require employees to wear the I.D. card as a badge. Please check with your supervisor to see if this is the case in your department. Please note, if your department wants you to wear your I.D. card as a badge, DO NOT punch a hole through the card. This will damage the proximity chip inside the card and the door access feature will no longer work.

Employee Spending Accounts

The Dartmouth Card Office prints I.D. cards and maintains the accounts available to cardholders. Once activated, the I.D. card accounts can be used to purchase meals or food items in the dining facilities around campus.

Employees are eligible for the following accounts:

Faculty, Staff, and Graduate Student Meal Plans

Did you know? DDS has employee meal plan options for The Class of 1953 Commons. For details, please visit the DDS website.

Prepaid Discretionary Account

The Employee Prepaid Discretionary account is available upon request. Please contact the DartCard staff to enable it on the employee I.D. card.

The Employee Prepaid Discretionary account is created with a zero balance, and cannot go negative. Once the employee prepaid discretionary account is created, it will remain in place.

A deposit must be made to this account before it can be used. Deposits can be made by:

  • Going online through the GET Funds deposit portal.
  • Calling the DartCard Office at (603) 646-3724 and paying by MasterCard/Visa supported Debit/Credit card.
  • Visiting the DartCard Office during business hours and paying by cash, check, or MasterCard/Visa supported debit/credit card. The DartCard Office is located on the main level of McNutt Hall, room 103. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 12:00, and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM.

In the event that employment is terminated, the account will be disabled. If any remaining funds exist, the terminating employee will need to request a refund with the DartCard staff prior to termination. If no request is made, the funds will be forfeit.

GET Funds for Employee Use

While GET Funds is a web service primarily geared for student use, don't be dissuaded. Employees are also able to use the web service to monitor and maintain balances, as well as review transactions on their ID card accounts. One caveat: Employee accounts need to be established first with the DartCard Services area before the employee would be able to register and log-in to use the GET Funds web service.

To establish an employee account, please email or visit the DartCard office.

For assistance with registering for a user account, please review the GET Funds registration guide.

For assistance with making deposits to the Prepaid Discretionary account, please review the GET Funds deposit guide.

If you have any questions about this, please contact the DartCard staff.
