Though this denarius issue of Julius Caesar was likely minted in Africa, the coin has been found throughout the Roman world. Caesar’s denarius has been discovered in 19 hoards in northern, central and southern Italy as well in Macedonia, Romania, Sicily and France. The hoards indicate a widespread distribution and secure a date of 47-6 BCE for the coin.
