Location of the Hoards

The distribution of the Satrienus denarius can be seen on the map at L. The coin has mostly been found in hoards within peninsular Italy, though a few outliers exist, two in modern-day France and one in modern-day Croatia. The lack of a significant concentration of sites outside peninsular Italy, and the widespread dissemination of the coin within that same area precludes this coin type from being issued to a military unit.
