Join us for a panel discussion with DHMC doctors o Join us for a panel discussion with DHMC doctors on clinical research on Wednesday, May 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. The panel will focus on doctors’ clinical research, the role of undergraduates, and why one should choose clinical research over other types of research 

Our esteemed panelists will include Dr. James Saunders and Dr. Yvon Bryan who will share their experiences and insights about the clinical research process, as well as their thoughts on the importance of undergraduate involvement in this field. 

We encourage anyone with an interest in the field of clinical research or medicine to join us for what promises to be an enlightening and engaging discussion. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 17 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm.

To attend, please RSVP by filling out the following form, by Tuesday, May 16 11:59 PM. Please only sign up if you know you can attend, and email Nathan.Smith.Society@dartmouth.edu ASAP if your circumstances change.

Join us for a dinner event with Geisel students on Join us for a dinner event with Geisel students on Sunday, May 14 from 6 to 7 pm at the first-floor Fahey Lounge. The event will provide a great opportunity to learn more about their experiences in medical school, the premed journey, and more.
Students from Geisel will share their personal experiences and offer valuable insights into the medical school journey, the premed experience, and what it takes to be successful in the field of medicine.

The event will be held in a relaxed and informal atmosphere, making it an excellent opportunity to network, learn, and enjoy some delicious food. Please note that seats are limited (capped at 25 students), and we encourage you to RSVP as soon as possible to reserve your spot.

Dr. Jay C. Buckey Jr. is a Professor of Medicine a Dr. Jay C. Buckey Jr. is a Professor of Medicine at Geisel School of Medicine, the Director of the Space Medicine Innovations Laboratory at Dartmouth, and an Adjunct Professor at Thayer School of Engineering. Notably, Dr. Buckey is a former astronaut who flew aboard the Space Shuttle mission STS-90 as a Payload Specialist. He now studies auditory processing as it relates to neurocognitive function and space physiology and medicine. Additionally, he practices hyperbaric medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

Dr. William Nelson, PhD, MDiv is the Director of t Dr. William Nelson, PhD, MDiv is the Director of the Ethics and Human Values Program at Geisel School of Medicine. He is additionally a Professor at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice and the Departments of Medical Education and Community and Family Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine. As a healthcare ethicist, Dr. Nelson’s work is dedicated to the relationship between ethics, quality, and value in healthcare delivery and integrating ethical and medical humanities into Geisel’s curriculum. 

Join us for an interactive case based discussion about medical ethics with Dr. Nelson Sunday, April 23  from 6:00-7:00 pm in Fahey Commons. This event will be catered by Han Fusion. To RSVP for this event, please fill out this form by Thursday, April  20th. This event will be capped at 20 people. The event organizers will notify the first 20 signups that they have been confirmed as attendees. As attendance is limited, please only sign up if you know you can attend, and let the organizers know ASAP if your circumstances change.
Dr. Thomas was named as the Chief of the Section o Dr. Thomas was named as the Chief of the Section of Radiation Oncology of Norris Cotton Cancer Center (NCCC) in 2021. In addition to his role as section chief, Dr. Thomas serves as the Associate Director for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at NCCC. Dr. Thomas is a Dartmouth College graduate and earned a bachelor’s degree in biology in 1979. He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 1985. Dr. Thomas completed a residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, as well as a residency in radiation oncology at Washington School of Medicine.  

Dr. Thomas’ research has focused on a range of interests including patient-provider communication, developing strategies to increase cancer clinical trial participation among black and ethnic populations, and cancer emergency medicine.
