NSS + Hood Museum of Art: Training the Eye Workshop

On Saturday, February 16, the Nathan Smith Society collaborated with the newly-opened Hood Museum of Art to host a workshop for pre-health students to learn how to analyze artwork, develop their observation skills, and apply these abilities to their future medical careers.

During the first part of the program, the participants individually examined a work of art for ten minutes then shared their objective observations with the group. Learning how to notice all of the details before making a conclusion served to be a useful skill when observing real patient images in the next segment of the workshop, where students were able to notice small details that were key to their diagnoses.

Thanks to the staff at the Hood Museum of Art for leading this fantastic workshop!
