Dr. Roshini Pinto-Powell, Associate Dean for Student Affairs at Geisel, came to the Nathan Smith Society/Dartmouth Mental Health Student Union co-sponsored “Dinner with a Doc” event this summer. She is an internist with several fellowships in infectious disease. During the discussion it became very obvious burnout and depression among students and physicians weren’t new topics. Rather they seemed new because of the increasing amounts of attention they are receiving. Dr. Pinto-Powell provided kind and practical guidance on how to maintain our passion for medicine as students, in the future as physicians, and how to ask for help in case of a mental health problem.
